The town of Porvoo has about 50 000 inhabitants. Porvoo is a bilingual town, about 67% of the inhabitants are Finnish speaking, and about 30% of the inhabitants are speaking Swedish as their mother tongue. 3% of the inhabitants speak some other language. The city is a centre for the economic region of the eastern part of the province of Uusimaa.
